Content & AI standards

Updated November 6, 2026

Creators and operators are responsible for rights, adult eligibility, consent and truthful provenance. AI generation is not an exception.

Current AI artwork and performer records

Folio's current publishing model is fictional, AI-generated illustration. The current production workflow uses no real performers and no photographs or videos of actual people as source material.

The performer identity, age-verification, recordkeeping and labeling requirements in 18 U.S.C. §§ 2257 and 2257A concern qualifying depictions of actual human beings. See the U.S. Department of Justice guidance. Any future use of real performers, real-person source images or manipulated depictions of actual people requires a separate applicability and records review before publication.

Fictional AI artwork remains subject to applicable content, copyright, privacy and viewer-access requirements.

Prohibited material

Do not upload or publish sexual exploitation or sexualized depictions of minors, nonconsensual intimate imagery, deceptive sexual imagery of real people, doxxing, trafficking/exploitation, unlawful threats or other illegal content. A label, fictional disclaimer or AI tool does not make prohibited content acceptable. No content involving a minor becomes acceptable by changing an age label.

Rights and provenance

Keep the permissions needed for artwork, characters, likenesses and source assets. AI-assisted work must be described honestly; do not claim a human artist created it or that generation alone gives you rights to a third party’s work. Do not falsely imply endorsement or remove required credits/notices. Private upload approval is separate from permission to distribute publicly.

Review and restrictions

We can restrict or remove material while reviewing credible reports, permissions, consent, regional rights or legal requirements. Repeat infringement and serious or repeated safety violations can result in termination of access. Appeals must explain the decision being challenged and the basis for reconsideration; do not repost restricted material during review.

Report or appeal

Submit a report or appeal. For an intimate-image removal request, select that specific category; you do not need a Folio account or ownership of copyright to report nonconsensual imagery. Do not upload a copy of the image.
